Complete Eye Exam

Routine complete eye exams are important to determine what you need to help you see well, and to maintain the health of your eyes for a lifetime. Eye exams are performed by Dr. Jarvi, our Ophthalmologist and he also performs all surgeries related to the eye. I

  • Extensive Vision History
  • Medical History
  • Visual Acuity
  • Eye Pressure Readings
  • Peripheral Vision Testing
  • Refraction (determines eyeglass prescription)
  • Examination of the front part of your eye, including the cornea, pupil, iris and lens, with the slit-lamp microscope
  • Dilation of pupil
  • Examination of the inside of your eye including the macula, peripheral retina and optic nerve
  • Professional summary of your tests
  • Recommendations to main the health of your eyes and your vision for the future

On average, your office visit will take approximately 1-1/2 hours. After dilation, you may have difficulty seeing up-close to read or perform other near work for up to 4-6 hours. Your eyes will also be extra- sensitive to light so we recommend that you bring a pair of sunglasses to wear after your appointment. You will most likely be able to drive, though you may be more comfortable bringing someone along who can drive you home afterwards.
